Acceptable Use Policy

Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the acceptable use of IT services, systems, and infrastructure provided by Athena Information Technology Services LLC ("Athena IT") to its clients. This policy applies to all users of Athena IT managed services, including client employees, contractors, and authorized third parties.

Acceptable Use

Users of Athena IT services agree to use the services only for lawful business purposes and in compliance with:

  • All applicable federal, state, local, and international laws and regulations
  • Any applicable industry-specific regulations (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, GDPR, etc.)
  • The terms of their managed services agreement with Athena IT
  • Reasonable security practices and organizational policies

Prohibited Activities

Users shall not use Athena IT services to:

  • Transmit or store any material that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Violate any intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademark, or trade secret rights
  • Transmit malware, viruses, ransomware, or other malicious software
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any systems, networks, or data
  • Conduct denial-of-service attacks or other disruptive activities
  • Send unsolicited bulk communications (spam)
  • Mine cryptocurrency or use resources for unauthorized computational purposes
  • Store or transmit material that exploits or harms minors
  • Engage in any activity that could damage Athena IT's infrastructure, reputation, or other clients
  • Circumvent or disable any security features or access controls

Security Responsibilities

Users are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials
  • Reporting any suspected security incidents to Athena IT immediately
  • Cooperating with Athena IT's security investigations and remediation efforts
  • Following reasonable security practices, including multi-factor authentication where provided
  • Keeping their devices and software up to date as recommended by Athena IT

Monitoring and Enforcement

Athena IT reserves the right to monitor the use of its services to ensure compliance with this AUP and to maintain the security and integrity of its infrastructure. We may investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including:

  • Issuing warnings to the user or client organization
  • Temporarily suspending access to services
  • Permanently terminating services in cases of serious or repeated violations
  • Reporting illegal activities to appropriate law enforcement authorities

Changes to This Policy

Athena IT reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time. Changes will be communicated to clients and posted on our website. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
